WES FODERINGHAM - 7 MOTM
Did nothing wrong, couple of decent stops arguably kept us in it!
JAMES TAVERNIER - 5
Guilty of trying to force the issue as usual, needs to add more variance to his play rather than continually hammering balls into the box.
JOE WORRALL - 7
Did well against not much offensive play.
CONNOR GOLDSON – 5
Did OK, really poor distribution though. Needs to offer more in this respect as a centre half who can come out and play insightful passes is much needed.
BORNA BARISIC - 5
Another sub par game, we need to persist with him but similarly he needs to get much more consistent.
ROSS MCCRORIE - 6
Did OK, his usual performance breaking up the play but not really commanding moving the ball forward.
STEVEN DAVIS - 5
Off the boil again, really struggling to find his range. Subbed on the hour for Glenn Middleton.
GLEN KAMARA - 6
Did OK on his debut under pretty trying circumstances, looks good on the ball and hopefully we see more from him moving forward.
DANIEL CANDEIAS – 5
The Hyde performance from Candeias this week, not sure he is able to offer more than what he does so perhaps these type of games aren't for him.
RYAN KENT – 6
Quieter game, but continually looks to get on the ball and make things happen. The only one really who looks to do so.
JERMAINE DEFOE - 5
Felt for him, we didn't play to his strengths at all. You don't bring in a player like Defoe then treat him like a target man. We know the service he needs, so we need to be able to give him it.
GLENN MIDDLETON - 3
Got half an hour, but with how deep St Johnstone were it was never going to be his game. Tries his best but wasn't to be.
KYLE LAFFERTY - 3
He comes on and we continually look to lump balls up to him due to his size. He's never been prolific in the air so I'm not sure why we keep doing it. Play to players strengths.
LASSANA COULIBALY - 2
Short run out for McCrorie and did OK without really offering what we needed.
STEVEN GERRARD - 5
Manager has to take some blame either for not communicating what he wants the players to do correctly, or setting the team up in the wrong way to try and go and dominate this game.
