Match Ratings from last nights 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock.
An improved performance from Sunday (which wouldn't exactly have been difficult) but we still faced the same problems breaking down a team who come to sit deep and force us to go through them. A worrying trend now.
WES FODERINGHAM - 7
In the team unexpectedly from the cold, didn't have a whole lot to do in the game. Big save in injury time to deny Killie from a smash and grab 3 points.
JAMES TAVERNIER - 7
Better performance without being fantastic. Delivery much improved, including a terrific ball in for Goldson's header. Unlucky to see a shot go just over the bar in the first half.
JOE WORRALL - 6
Seems to be a bit of a target of hysteria, mostly for not being Niko Katic as far as I can tell. Could have done a bit better at the Killie goal, but was generally fine throughout. Makes some passes which some people think are unnecessarily risky.
CONNOR GOLDSON - 7
Decent again, should have buried his header. Not much else to report.
JON FLANAGAN - 4
Awful 45 minutes and rightly hooked at half time. Bad news when Chris Burke beats you for pace time and time again. Barisic's return can't come quick enough.
ANDY HALLIDAY - 8 MOTM
First half at centre mid and second half at left back and performed very well. Clear tactic of Killie's to give Flanagan the ball in the first half and they carried it on into the second so he seen a lot of the ball and used it well. Should play on Saturday.
LASSANA COULIBALY - 5
Could write the same thing for the last 4 games or so, just not at the races. Looks like he needs a rest.
SCOTT ARFIELD - 6
Started positively, got forward well to link up with Alfie and played a great pass for his goal. Faded badly as the game went on and missed a fairly bad sitter in the second half. Needs to get back up to speed quickly.
DANIEL CANDEIAS - 5
Poor again, but doesn't stop trying. Crossing is very erratic at the moment and the assists have disappeared. Another who could do with a rest.
RYAN KENT - 5
Looks absolutely shattered - I'm sensing a theme - although thought he looked a lot sharper when Middleton came on and he was moved into the No 10 role. Lafferty sub killed that with Kent shunted out wide right again.
ALFREDO MORELOS - 7
Did well to get into position for the goal, got lucky with the finish and didn't get much of a look in for the rest of the night.
RYAN JACK - 6
Weird sub at half time for me when we needed to press the game. He played his game well and did nothing wrong, I just don't think he was what we needed.
GLENN MIDDLETON - 3
Got a good run out, over half an hour but sadly against a team as well drilled as Kilmarnock he was onto a hiding to nothing. Kept going and tried well, but nothing really to work with.
KYLE LAFFERTY - 2
His sub seemed to kill any small amount of momentum we had, unfortunately and not much happened offensively in those last 15 minutes.
STEVEN GERRARD - 5
Changes were made early substitution wise, so we can't complain about that but equally they didn't exactly work! Concerning that he didn't get the level of reaction he needed, and we need to figure out how to break these teams down very quickly as most teams will just come and do this to us now.
