ALLAN MCGREGOR - 7
Didn't have a single save to make such was our dominance and St Mirrens ineptitude.
JAMES TAVERNIER - 8
Two penalties scored, one missed. Takes real balls to step back up to hit another penalty after you've missed one, especially at only 1-0. Touch of class to give Defoe the fourth (!) penalty and give up a certain hat trick. SWEET PRINCE.
JOE WORRALL - 7
Minimal threat to deal with, but didn't put a foot wrong.
NIKO KATIC – 7
Looking much more like the player we had in the early months of the season. Delighted he's getting a good run in the team and growing back into it game by game.
BORNA BARISIC - 7
The shoots of a fruitful partnership with Ryan Kent are beginning to develop, they worked very well during certain stages of this game and that looks like it could be a really potent weapon down the left hand side. Terrific early delivery for a Morelos chance in the second half.
ROSS McCRORIE - 5
Slightly under par for the first time since his reintroduction to the team in December. Subbed on the hour after a very harsh booking for what I think was his first tackle.
SCOTT ARFIELD - 6
Knits things together between defence and attack. Didn't really have much of an impact on the game on Saturday, but still a crucial player in the build up.
STEVEN DAVIS - 5
Taking his time to get up to speed, but another decent run out in terms of minutes here. Unlucky not to score in the lead up to the second penalty.
RYAN KENT – 8
Has been consistently excellent since the Celtic game. Commits defenders everytime he gets the ball which coupled with the ability to beat them on both sides makes him such a potent weapon. His goal was an absolute beauty, he deserves real credit considering he wins the ball back in his own half with the game over as a content then finishes it off with a lovely clipped finish. Two goals in his last two league games as well, so starting to add a more regular end product.
ALFREDO MORELOS – 8
Seen the good - and the petulant - from Fredo in this game. Should have had a couple of goals at least but for some really good goal keeping but his overall play creates so many opportunities for us it's difficult to criticise. Probably unlucky not to get to hit a penalty, however I can understand Tav's decisions on the third and fourth.
JERMAINE DEFOE - 9 MOTM
Took his penalty with the clinical ease you would expect, but the really pleasing thing for me was how much better he looked linking up and running the line. A terrific weighted assist for Kent's beautiful fourth goal was just the icing on the cake.
RYAN JACK – 6
Replaced the ineffectual McCrorie early in the second half and had a really good cameo. Probably our best central midfielder on the day and will rightly walk back into the team on Wednesday night.
DANIEL CANDEIAS – 4
On for Davis for the last hour and buzzed about well. Won the ball and the penalty for the third goal.
KYLE LAFFERTY – 2
On late on for Defoe but the game was done as a contest.
STEVEN GERRARD - 8
An interesting game in that it's really tough to judge the team given a) the number of penalties and b) how awful St Mirren are. Credit for trying this formation again - exactly the type of game we should be experimenting in - and it will definitely have given him food for thought for future games.
